Chowan County North Carolina is located on the eastern shore of North Carolina
and on the Albermarle Sound. The county was created in 1670 from Albermarle Precinct.
The real estate records have been preserved in the North Carolina State Archives
on microfilm. The original records are located in the Chowan County Court House.
The records are in poor condition due to damage of fire and flood conditions.
The index book edges show the extent of the damage and are difficult to read.

"Chowan County Cross Index to Deeds-Grantees 1695-1878, Vol. B" which was taken
